What is a
Mini Facelift?

The main differences between a traditional facelift and Dr. Solomon’s mini facelift are shorter incisions and less tissue manipulation, resulting in less bruising and a much shorter recovery time. Patients can usually return to work and social activities in as little as three to five days. The mini facelift is performed under local anesthesia and sedation. The procedure tightens the skin on the face, jawline, and neck. Dr. Solomon also tightens the muscle layer underneath the skin. Typically, the longevity of results is the same as a traditional facelift, about 10 years.

Mini Facelift Procedure

Step 1: Anesthesia

Local anesthesia with sedation is provided before this procedure to ensure patient safety and comfort. We prefer to avoid general anesthesia to reduce surgical risks and make recovery quicker.
After the anesthesia has been administered, Dr. Solomon makes the incisions inside the hairline that go behind the ears and stop at the earlobes. These openings allow our surgeon to access the underlying tissues and address early signs of aging.

The next step is removing excess skin, tightening facial muscles, and re-draping tissues. Dr. Solomon uses the latest techniques to achieve natural-looking results and minimize scarring.

Dr. Solomon uses dissolvable sutures to close the incisions. These sutures are absorbed naturally by the body in about one week. It takes two or three hours to perform a mini facelift. You can return home the same day after surgery has been completed.

Recovery After
Mini Facelift Surgery

First 24 Hours
Immediately after undergoing a mini facelift, patients are monitored briefly before being discharged to recover at home. Swelling and mild discomfort are expected but manageable with prescribed medications and cold compresses. Keeping the head elevated helps minimize inflammation. It is essential to rest, limit movement, and follow aftercare instructions closely to reduce the risk of postoperative complications during this initial period.
Most of the swelling and bruising begins to subside during the first week. Stitches used for internal healing are dissolvable and typically do not require removal. Light activities may be resumed within a few days, but strenuous exercise should still be avoided. The skin may feel tight, and there can be some numbness near the incisions, which is normal and temporary. Following all aftercare recommendations is essential to support optimal healing and prevent any delay in recovery.
By the second or third week, residual swelling continues to fade, and visible signs of surgery become less noticeable. Many individuals feel comfortable returning to work and social activities, especially with makeup to conceal minor discoloration. At this stage, the healing process progresses significantly, and the contours of the face start to appear more refined and natural. Continued care, including sun protection, helps support skin recovery.
After one month, most of the external healing is complete, although subtle internal healing may continue for several more weeks. The mini facelift results become more evident, with improved skin tightness and facial definition. Any lingering swelling is minimal. Long-term care, such as maintaining a stable weight and good skincare, can help preserve the outcome for years. Follow-up visits with Dr. Solomon ensure the healing process remains on track and no complications arise.

Additional Cosmetic Procedures

Neck Lift

A neck lift is often performed alongside a mini facelift to create a more seamless rejuvenation between the face and neck. This procedure addresses sagging skin, muscle banding, and excess fat under the chin, resulting in a smoother and more defined neck contour.

An eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, improves the appearance of the upper and/or lower eyelids by removing excess skin and fat. It can reduce puffiness, correct drooping lids, and restore a more alert, youthful look to the eyes.

Cheek and chin augmentation enhances the facial structure by adding definition and balance. These procedures are commonly done using implants or dermal fillers to improve harmony between the midface and lower face, complementing the lift achieved through surgery.
Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical treatment that improves skin tone, texture, and radiance. It reduces fine lines, sun damage, and surface irregularities by stimulating collagen production, making it an ideal addition to surgical facial rejuvenation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do individual results vary?

Lifestyle choices, skin type, sun exposure, and heredity can all affect how long the results will last. Taking care of your skin during recovery is crucial. Using professional-grade skin products and having regular skin treatments, such as facials or peels at Solomon Cosmetic Center, may prolong your results. The mini facelift can be coupled with other procedures, such as an eye lift, chin or cheek enhancements, nose surgery, laser skin resurfacing, body liposuction, breast augmentation, and other body procedures.

You will immediately notice the results of the procedure. The results will become even more noticeable after the swelling and bruising dissipate. Many patients notice that the results last many years. Taking care of your skin and protecting it from the sun are some things that you can do to increase the amount of time that your mini facelift lasts.

Choosing the best surgeon for a mini facelift involves careful research and consideration. Look for a doctor with extensive experience performing this specific plastic surgery procedure. Review before-and-after photos of their previous patients, check board certification, and read testimonials. A thorough private consultation ensures you feel comfortable and confident in their expertise and approach.

A mini facelift is a cosmetic surgery that provides more significant and longer-lasting results than non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques like dermal fillers. While dermal fillers are an excellent option for addressing volume loss and fine lines, they cannot tighten underlying muscles or remove excess skin. A mini facelift offers a surgical solution with durable results for patients seeking more dramatic improvements in skin laxity and facial contour.
