Lipomas are the most common noncancerous soft tissue growth:
If you find a swelling or lump on any part of your body, it’s important to schedule a consultation with a doctor you can trust to find out more. At Solomon Cosmetic Center, we’ll perform an examination of your body to help determine the severity of your lipomas. If they are causing pain, we may recommend them to be surgically removed.
A lipoma diagnosis is done by a physical exam. To confirm the diagnosis, you may have to get an ultrasound, CT scan, MRI or an x-ray. In some cases, we may perform a biopsy to rule out liposarcoma, a rare cancer.
Since lipomas are not painful or harmful to health, they are left in place. Patients can choose to get them removed surgically if they experience pain in the area around the lipoma. Lipomas do not recur once they have been removed.

Lipomas can be removed by Dr. George Solomon at Solomon Cosmetic Center in Tampa, FL. Dr. Solomon will first inject a local anesthetic like lidocaine around the lipoma and then make an incision in the skin to remove the growth. Once removed, he closes the incision with some sutures.
Sometimes if the lipoma is large, Dr Solomon will remove it using a Vaser® machine. The Vaser® machine combines ultrasound and massage to break up and melt the fat inside the capsule. Dr. Solomon can then remove the fat using a small cannula without leaving any large incisions or big cuts in the skin.
The average cost of Lipoma removal varies depending on the size, the location and complexity. *Prices may vary. Contact us to schedule your consultation with Dr. Solomon today.
