Breast Reduction in Tampa & Clearwater, FL
What is a
Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from overly large breasts. Studies show that the satisfaction rates after this operation are the highest among all types of plastic surgery. Breast reduction is not just about improving the appearance. It can alleviate back and neck pain, helping patients exercise and engage in other activities with more comfort. George Solomon, M.D., is a top expert in breast reduction due to his extensive experience, innovative techniques, and commitment to safety.

Reasons for
Undergoing Breast Reduction
Physical Discomfort
Difficulty Finding Properly Fitting Clothes
Skin Irritation and Rashes
The weight of large breasts can cause the bra straps to dig into the shoulders. This constant friction leads to skin irritation, rashes, and even open sores. Breast reduction surgery can minimize these symptoms by lifting the breasts and reducing pressure from bra straps.

Consultation & Preparation
for Breast Reduction
Preparation for breast reduction surgery begins with an introductory consultation with Dr. Solomon. During this appointment, the patient’s goals and medical history are reviewed. Dr. Solomon also examines the breasts and discusses the expected results. If the patient is a good candidate, the surgeon explains the details of the procedure and what to expect during recovery.

Inferior Pedicle
The nipple-areola complex (NAP) is left attached to the underlying breast tissue and blood vessels through a narrow supporting structure called a pedicle. It preserves nipple sensation and allows the areola to be repositioned higher on the breast. The pedicle is de-epithelialized (the outer layer of skin is removed) so it can be hidden inside the breast when all incisions are closed.
Removal of Excess Tissues
Unwanted fat, glandular tissue, and skin are eliminated from the breasts. The amount of removal depends on the patient’s aesthetic goals. The remaining breast tissue is reshaped to create a lifted and smaller shape.

First Week of Recovery
Long-Term Recovery Period
Over the next month, residual pain and swelling continue to improve. Patients can increase their activity levels and resume light exercise. Most women return to work within 2 weeks. Full recovery takes between 6 and 12 months for most patients after breast reduction surgery. Follow-up appointments allow Dr. Solomon to ensure that the patient is healing well.
Breast reduction results should remain stable without dramatic changes in weight or pregnancy. However, the natural aging process will continue transforming breast size and shape over time. Dr. Solomon and our entire staff are always here to help patients recover from their breast reduction procedure and maintain their new contours for many years.
Candidates for
Breast Reduction Surgery
- Women with overly large, pendulous breasts that cause neck, back, or shoulder pain as well as skin irritation. Excessive weight can cause poor posture and make physical activity difficult. Breast reduction helps relieve these symptoms.
- Women whose disproportionately large breasts cause psychological discomfort and low self-esteem. One of the best ways to get rid of these negative feelings is to undergo breast reduction.
- Women who have tried other conservative treatments like physical therapy, massage, or special bras/garments without relief from symptoms. Breast reduction may be considered as a next step.
- Women with breast asymmetry, where one breast is significantly larger than the other. Reduction surgery can resolve this condition and create a beautiful appearance.
- Women who have completed childbearing and breastfeeding. Pregnancy can further enlarge breasts, so candidates should wait until this stage of life is finished to consider plastic surgery.
