Neck Liposuction

As we age, certain areas of the body can accumulate fat that is hard to lose, in spite of a healthy diet and vigorous exercise. The neck is one such area. Fatty deposits in the neck can detract from the appearance of the entire body, making a younger person seem older, or a fit person seem out of shape. Facial Liposuction can give this area a new streamlined contour, enhancing the effect of facial features and improving the profile. Liposuction in this area produces consistently good results, and has a particularly high satisfaction rate.

If you’re considering liposuction of the neck, the following information will provide you with a good introduction to the procedure. For more detailed information about how this procedure may help you, we recommend that you consult a facial surgeon who is board certified or has completed a residency program that includes instruction in this procedure.

Dr. George Solomon, at Solomon Cosmetic Center in Palm Harbor, often performs neck liposuction in conjunction with neck lift or face lift. Liposuction has the ability to garner excellent improvements to the appearance of the profile. In addition, some individuals may be candidates for a chin implant. Dr. Solomon often combines neck and chin liposuction with a chin implant for dramatic results. It’s important to note that patients with loose and sagging skin may be considered for a neck lift procedure to remove this skin imperfection. During the consultation, the appropriate assessments will be made to gain insight as to whether liposuction, a lift, or an implant will be needed to attain the desired results.

Surgical Technique

During liposuction, a small incision will be made just below the chin and excess fat will be removed from the neck through a cannula. Dr. George Solomon prefers to use the tumescent (“superwet”) liposuction technique. During this approach, a liquid made up of saline, a numbing agent and a substance that controls bleeding will be injected. This procedure may be a stand-alone procedure but, in most cases, it used in unison with the neck lift.

Are Results Permanent?

The fat cells removed during liposuction do not come back. However, patients that gain weight after surgery are at risk of regaining fat because the remaining cells left behind can expand and become larger. Patients that adhere to a healthy diet and exercise program will continue to see results years after their surgery.

Solomon Cosmetic Center is located in the Tampa Bay Area which includes locations such as Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Brandon and Port Richey.
