In the second part of his segment on the Three Types of Tummy Tuck, Dr. Solomon explains how a patient can decide on the right type of procedure:
So, how do you know which procedure is the right procedure for you, whether it’s the Traditional Tummy Tuck, or a Lipoabdominoplasty, or the Mini Tummy Tuck? One you have to see, obviously, the surgeon that is going to do the procedure, but first you need to see whether the patient needs a liposuction. If you have quite a bit of adipose tissue or fat, then obviously you need some liposuction with it, so that becomes a Lipoabdominoplasty. The other issue is if the skin above the belly button is tight enough and all the laxity is down below only, then you may qualify for the Mini-Tuck. And most importantly, what does the patient want? What are their expectations? You know, if they really really want a very tight abdomen, then maybe the Lipoabdominoplasty with plycation of the muscle, is the right procedure for them. If they are happy with the way it is, just extra skin or pannus, or just skin down below that his hanging, and they just want to get rid of that, then maybe a Mini Tummy Tuck, that’s all they need. So, it really depends on the patient expectation, and your consultation with the surgeon to see what fits you the best.
