Recovering From Gynecomastia Treatment
Dr. Solomon provides quick patient instructions and a timeline of what to expect while recovering from Gynecomastia.
“What do you expect after the procedure? We put you in a garment, and you have to wear this garment for at least 6 weeks. We recommend that you don’t do any strenuous exercise or lifting weights or anything like that to avoid any hematomas, or swelling, or bleeding, or anything like that. So you wear the garment, and then we follow the patient up just about every week for the first 2 to 3 weeks, and then after that they should be stable.”
Gynecomastia, or “male boobs,” is a common disorder in which the male breast tissue is enlarged due to lack of testosterone or increased estrogen. As noted in Dr. Solomon’s previous video, Gynecomastia is becoming more prevalent among adolescent males in today’s society because of the obesity epidemic. In cases of Gynecomastia, Dr. Solomon will first run tests and get the patient’s history to find out what is causing the disorder before designing a treatment plan. In most cases, Gynecomastia can be treated with Liposuction and any excess glandular tissue can be removed at the same time. In some patients, however, Dr. Solomon must make a small incision under the nipple to remove excess glandular tissue.
