What is a Breast Lift?
At Solomon Cosmetic Center in Tampa, a cosmetic surgery procedure that can help restore chest fullness is a breast lift. With the effects of age and having children, breasts can appear deflated requiring push-up bras to give the appearance of upper chest fullness. A breast lift raises the nipple position and the position of the breast on the chest. It improves upper chest fullness and appearance in and out of clothes. The scar is minimal; and if additional fullness is needed or desired, a silicone gel or saline breast implant can refine the look of the breast.
Am I a candidate for a breast lift?
A breast lift may be a good option for you if your breasts sag with stretched skin, having lost shape and volume due to pregnancy, age, or weight. Breast lift surgery may also be right for you if your nipples and areolas point downward, your nipples and areolas fall below the breast crease, or your breasts have a flat, elongated shape. Finally, breast lift surgery can address issues such as one breast being firmer, larger, or positioned differently. Ideal candidates are in good health and maintain a stable weight.
What to expect during a breast lift?
While the technique of the breast lift procedure will vary due to the specific plan created for you by Dr. Solomon, the incisions will be easily concealable by clothing. During the procedure, excess skin will be removed while the areola and nipple will be shifted to a higher position. Areolas that have been stretched over time can be reduced in size. Typically, the areola and nipple are left connected to the underlying tissue, leaving the milk glands unaffected and allowing for breast feeding. To restore fullness, any excess tissue previously located above the areola can be used to reshape the breast.
What is the recovery time for a breast lift?
You will experience swelling, discoloration, and tightness, around the treated areas. You may also experience numbness in the nipple and areola areas. Surgical drains inserted during the procedure will be removed a few days after surgery. You will need to wear a special support bra for few weeks after the surgery and sleep on your back. Most patients return to work within a week and can resume normal activities including light exercise after several weeks. Aside from a large shift in weight or pregnancy, the results of your procedure should remain stable. However, the natural aging process will continue to change the shape and size of your breasts over time. Dr. Solomon and the entire Solomon Cosmetic Center staff in Tampa can help as you recover from your breast lift procedure.
